Stamford Week in Review

A look at the top news from the last week.

In case you missed a day, here's a quick roundup of all the lead stories from Stamford this week. There's always a lot going on, so take this opportunity to catch up if you missed something!

By far the biggest story impacting the most people this week was the Metro North's complete failure. A power failure on the lines caused commuters to seek out alternate means of travel and brought to a grinding halt roadwork across the state to ease traffic congestion. Area companies sought to help daily travelers in any way they could. 

In police news, there was a lot of serious news going on this week. Sadly, a Westhill High School junior committed suicide Friday, a Stamford man was charged in the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl, the suspect involved in a police chase that left a Stamford police officer seriously injured after the officer fell from a bridge in 2012 was charged in a strong-arm robberytwo suspects were busted in Greenwich during a drug deal, one of the suspects being from Stamford and a Stamford man pleaded guilty in federal court for his involvement operating a lucrative illegal gambling ring.  

In community news, we got to know Rev. Dr. Frances Sink of the Unitarian Universalist church in Downtown Stamford and she talked about the progressive nature of the congregation, we got to know better the goofy side of Miss Connecticut Kaitlyn Tarpeytwo New Canaan women help organize the Blessings in a Backpack food drive for 100 Stamford students in need and we took the opportunity to learn more about Turn of River Middle School meeting Rachel's Challenge
