A Peek at the Past at the Stamford Town Clerk's Office

A new gallery highlights Stamford history.

The new gallery in the Stamford Town Clerk's Office is anything but!

A new gallery of photos highlighting some of Stamford's past—including a shot of one of the original three buildings used as the Stamford Town Hall—now hangs in the entryway to the city official's office.

"They didn't look like that when we found them, I assure you," laughed Donna Loglisci, Town Clerk. "About a year ago, a foreman at our facilities building on Magee Ave. said, 'Donna, you've got to see these photos I found in the basement.' About two months ago, he dragged me down there and said, 'I'm showing you these today.' And he was right, they're amazing."

Loglisci said some were in broken frames, some were lying on the floor, but she recognized immediately she was looking at a piece of Stamford's past.

"I had them cleaned up and put in special glass with part of a historical preservation grant we received," Loglisci said. "I'm hoping to find more treasures!"
