Stamford Police Charge Norwalk Woman with Arson

Stamford Police picked up and charged a 34-year-old Norwalk woman with first-degree arson Tuesday when she appeared in Norwalk court on unrelated charges, authorities announced Wednesday.

According to Lt. Diedrich Hohn, police charged Felicia Langley in connection to a fire that occurred at 303 Greenwich Avenue on Aug. 3, 2012. When Stamford Fire & Rescue responded to a call of a structure fire at that location, they determined the cause to be suspicious in nature, Hohn said.

State Fire marshals were notified of the incident and a K-9 unit was able to detect the presence of an accelerant at the location, which lab tests confirmed, he said.
Investigators Michael Stempien and John Russell took over the investigation and developed Felicia Langley, 34, of 53 Glasser Street in Norwalk, as a suspect in the case, Hohn said. They discovered a motive, which police were not ready to release on Wednesday, and obtained a partial confession, he said.

The state attorney's office signed an arrest warrant and she was charged Tuesday with first-degree arson and first-degree criminal mischief. Langley was held on a $25,000 bond.
