Cops: Stamford Woman with PCP Leads Police on Chase into Oncoming Traffic
A Stamford woman allegedly found with PCP in her vehicle following a brief pursuit Tuesday faces a number of charges relating to the incident, authorities reported Wednesday.
According to police, officers out on patrol at approximately 4 p.m. on Nov. 12 observed a vehicle with no license plate on it along West Broad Street, and pulled up to conduct a motor vehicle stop. When the driver, identified by authorities as Jacqueline C. Adams, 30, of 9 Chestnut Street, spotted the patrol car, she took off, police said.
Driving on the wrong side of the road at points, Adams led police on a motor vehicle pursuit towards Leone Park, where she eventually pulled over of her own accord on Stillwater Avenue, police said.
Authorities said Adams appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic, and a K-9 unit was called to the scene. Police said the K-9 indicated and discovered PCP in the vehicle.
Adams was charged with engaging police in a pursuit, reckless driving, failure to obey a stop sign, failure to keep plates readable and possession of a hallucinogen. She was held in lieu of a $2,500 bond.
