Argument Over Lack of 'Quality Time' Ends with Woman's Arrest

Stamford Police say a city woman was arrested on assault-related charges following an argument with her partner that the couple did not spend "enough quality time" together.

Karina Martinez, 36, of 560 Westhill Rd., was arrested about 5:15 p.m. July 2 on charges of second-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.

According to Sgt. Sean Scanlan, Martinez is accused of arguing with the victim, the father of her four-year-old son. "She was upset that they were not spending enough quality time together," Scanlan said. The argument began before the victim left for work in the morning and resumed when he returned home that evening, Scanlan said. The couple's son and the woman's 15-year-old daughter were home during the argument.

Martinez is accused of brandishing an eight-inch kitchen knife and cutting the victim.  A 22-caliber rifle found in the home also was seized by police, Scanlan said.
