Fedele Opens Campaign Headquarters in Stamford

On the night before Stamford's mayoral race hits its five-week countdown, Republican candidate Michael Fedele officially opened up his campaign headquarters.

"It is an exciting day," Fedele said. "We're going to kick off the headquarters here. My headquarters and for use by the Republican Town Committee so we have one central focal point to work from. It's be a center of busy-ness."

Fedele, who on September 12 garnered the endorsement of former Gov. M. Jodi Rell, whom Fedele served under as Lieutenant Governor from 2007 to 2011, said Monday served as a bit of a pep rally.

"We've invited all our supporters and all of the other Republican candidates and their supporters, to come to kind of an open house and see where the headquarters is and sign up additional volunteers," Fedele said. "It's basically a pep rally to rally the troops. Five weeks from tomorrow is the election so we're getting close to game day and we're making sure it happens."

When Election Day arrives, Fedele will also appear on the ballot along the Independent line. A former Stamford Board of Representatives member and state Representative, said he's seen a lot of support from the Independent party in Stamford.

"I'm feeling good. I've gotten a really good response from many constituencies, from Democrats, Republicans, Independents, I think we've got a great message and I think it's resonated fine," he said. "We get a lot of support from Independents and a lot of them don't feel comfortable jumping up to the Republican line. We felt being on the Independent line might make them more comfortable in voting, as an Independent, for someone on the Independent line. We have a large base of support there."

Fedele and Democratic Mayoral Candidate David Martin will square off in a three-round series of debates beginning October 22 through October 24.
