Stamford Academy provides classes for students in grades 9-12 who have previously struggled in more traditional environments.</p> <p>Stamford Academy's mission is "to re-engage and guide students in acknowledging and developing their educational strengths while acquiring the skills to contribute positively to themselves and their community." In addition to offering smaller classes and individualized instruction, Stamford Academy offers clinical services such as individual and group counseling, and support groups for teen mothers and fathers.</p>

Stamford High School

Stamford High School offers its 1,800 students 200 academic courses (15 of them are advanced placement), 25 sportsMore teams and 60 student clubs from which to choose. Stamford High is a member of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The campus includes Boyle Stadium, which has a football and baseball field, as well as tennis courts, a health center, a library media and technology center and a career center.</p> <p>Stamford High opened in 1874 as a one-room school inside Center Elementary School on Broad Street. After a series of moves to accommodate the growing number of enrolled students, Stamford High settled in its current building on Strawberry Hill Avenue in 1928.</p>

State Representative Gerald Fox III is the Assistant Majority leader serving Stamford's 146th Assembly District. More Mr. Fox is a Stamford native and graduated Westhill High School before attending Providence College and Marshall Law School in Chicago. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Stamford Public Education Foundation, CTE, Inc. and the Advisory Board for the Stamford Youth Foundation. Mr. Fox has helped make Stamford one of the safest cities in America by writing and supporting legislation to protect victims of violent crimes and strengthen penalties against offenders. 
Scofield Magnet Middle School

Home of the Explorers, Scofield is one of five middle schools serving the students of Stamford, but holds theMore distinction of being the only magnet middle school in the city. Scofield's curriculum implements the principles of the Carnegie Foundation Report, and the Coalition of Essential Schools, and is focused on science, math and technology. Its mission statement involves "respecting the unique characteristics and individuality of emerging adolescents."</p> <p>In 2001, Scofield moved to its current site on Scofieldtown Rd., which was previously the campus for the University of Connecticut, Stamford Campus. Before that, the school temporarily held classes at Rippowam during its transition from a high school to a middle school.</p>

Roxbury Elementary School

With its motto being "We all do better when we ALL do better!", Roxbury Elementary School has been a prominent, positiveMore feature in Stamford's Westover/North Stamford section since its humble beginnings in the early 1800s as a one-room, one-teacher school.  Now sitting at the corner of Roxbury and Westhill roads (across the street from Westhill High School) on 17 acres of land, the school (with Gloria Manna as principal) has approximately 700 students and 100 faculty members. 
Stamford Baptist Church

Stamford Baptist Church, located on High Ridge Road, has been a place of worship for city residents since 1773. HeadedMore by Elders Tom Starkey and Ken Welborn, Stamford Baptist Church offers worship services on Sundays, and a bible study and prayer meeting during the week. The youth of the congregation benefit from the AWANA Club on Fridays, which provides bible study and social activities for those in grades Pre-K through 8. Stamford Baptist Church shares its building with Grace Christian School, although the two are not affiliated.
Royal Pavillion Association

U.S. Navy Recruiting Office

Located on High Ridge Road, the U.S. Navy Recruiting Office provides general Navy recruitment information to interestedMore parties, but also participates in community events in Stamford and surrounding areas. David Morey, OS1, U.S. Navy, is in charge of this office and visits Stamford schools for recruitment purposes, as well as hospitals and charitable organizations to reach out to veterans. The U.S. Navy Recruiting Office sits right next door to the Marine Corps Recruiting Office.
Stamford Art Association

Stamford Art Association is a nonprofit organization that holds art exhibits and juried art shows in Stamford. MembersMore include scupltors, painters, photographers and printmakers. The gallery holds eight shows a year, six being juried exhibits. This organization also showcases from Fairfield County high schools. Headed by Principal George Giberti, Rippowam is committed to "promoting academic excellence within a safe, nurturing environment that is responsive to the social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the adolescent child."
Trinity Catholic High School

Founded in 1991, Trinity Catholic High School is a co-ed college-preparatory Diocesan high school with a rich traditionMore in academic excellence, athletic performance and community service. Regionalized from St. Mary's in Greenwich, Stamford Catholic and Norwalk Central, Trinity offers its student body an academic program with 219 courses, including advanced placement in English literature, chemistry and more. Trinity is the home of the Crusaders, a comprehensive athletic program that competes in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference with 11 men's sports and 11 women's sports. The school also has an organized community service program in which its students are required to dedicate time to working with charitable organizations such as the Stamford Red Cross, AmeriCares and Easter Seals.

Terry Conners Rink

Located in Stamford's scenic Cove Park, Terry Conners has been a favorite recreational and sports hotspot for localMore residents for over 40 years.  Lots of things go on at TCR, as it's called—including Stamford youth hockey, the Southern Connecticut Figure Skating Club, and the high school hockey teams of Stamford, Westhill and Trinity Catholic.  In addition, the Terry Conners Skating School offers group skating lessons for kids and adults from October to May.
Trinity Catholic Middle School

Founded in 1964, Trinity Catholic Middle School provides students with a comprehensive academic curriculum, as well as aMore variety of sports and activities with a strong foundation in the Catholic religion. TCMS, which shares a 26-acre campus with Trinity Catholic High School and St. John Fisher Seminary, is the only middle school under the authority of the Roman Catholic diocese of Bridgeport, as well as the only Catholic middle school that serves Stamford. Formerly known as St. Gabriel Parochial School, TCMS still shares its building with St. Gabriel Parish, which opened in 1963.
