K.T. Murphy, which was originally known as the "Cove School" has been serving the city for over 100 years and is named after Katherine T. Murphy, who was hired as a teacher at the school in 1893 and went on to become principal of the school in 1913. She continued to serve as principal until her retirement in 1948.
