Home of the Explorers, Scofield is one of five middle schools serving the students of Stamford, but holds the…More distinction of being the only magnet middle school in the city. Scofield's curriculum implements the principles of the Carnegie Foundation Report, and the Coalition of Essential Schools, and is focused on science, math and technology. Its mission statement involves "respecting the unique characteristics and individuality of emerging adolescents."</p> <p>In 2001, Scofield moved to its current site on Scofieldtown Rd., which was previously the campus for the University of Connecticut, Stamford Campus. Before that, the school temporarily held classes at Rippowam during its transition from a high school to a middle school.</p>
