The Stamford Water Pollution Control Authority treats and processes wastewater from the City of Stamford and the Town ofMore Darien. Following treatment, clean water is discharged into a branch of Stamford Harbor. Stamford's wastewater has been processed at this site since the original plant opened in 1900. Since then, three new plants have been built, in 1947, 1976 and most recently in 2006. Modern updates have improved discharge water quality and increased plant capacity.

Stamford Recreation and Leisure Services coordinates recreational activities for youth, teens and adults, includingMore fitness classes, sports leagues and summer camps. Stamford Recreation also provides general information about city parks. Registration to most programs can be done online, at the office or via mail. Activity brochures are mailed to Stamford residents via up to four times per year.

Opearted by and located within the mayor's office, the Youth Service Bureau has a mission to "promote the developmentMore of caring, responsible, and successful young people through the Mayor's Youth Leadership council, Education Through Adventure, the Juvenile Review Board, the Stamford Mentoring Partnership, and facilitate collaboration among Stamford's youth-serving organizations."

City residents can visit the office to collect information and receive referrals for the various youth service agencies in Stamford. The office keeps a directory of all of the agencies, which can also be accessed online. The office also runs its own initiatives, including the Girls Empowerment Movement in Stamford, Pathfinders Adventure Camp and Stamford's Focus on Youth.
