Founded in 1865, King Low Heywood Thomas is a private college preparatory school that serves students in pre-kMore through twelfth grade. Located on Newfield Ave., King Low Heywood Thomas is actually divided into three schools, the Lower School, which serves students in pre-k through fifth grade, the Middle School for grades six through eight, and the Upper School for grades nine through twelve. Each school has its own individual mission for its students, but the entire school is dedicated to educational excellence and the fullest academic and personal achievement of our students.

Each King school has its own building and a list of extracurricular activities to choose from, including team sports, student clubs and performing arts programs. The campus also includes two libraries, a theatre, two gymnasiums, two tennis courts, and five athletic fields.

King is a convergence of three independent schools, Low-Heywood, which was founded in 1865, King's Day School, which was founded in 1875, and the Thomas School, which was founded in 1922. By 1974, Low-Heywood and King were creating programs together and the Thomas School merged with Low-Heywood the following year. By 1988, the two schools opted to merge their separate identities into one.
