I think it would have been wiser to make the first two of the last 3 half days into full days toRead More accomplish the goal. At least kids and teachers actually attend those days anyway, and most parents would probably find that helpful before the summer break begins.

Sounds like a good idea, but those days have scheduled (and required) professional developmentRead More activities planned. No, the best solution was to have added school days to the February break which would have increased instruction days before the state assessments.

I don't think I could ever survive school today. We have put so much on the shoulders of ourRead More children and have filled their overall school experience with only testing, evaluations, and homework. There is no balance in schools today, which would definitely impact any child's morale. Administrator sit and try to justify their approach to education without even trying to experience it themselves. IMO, we are nurturing a whole generation of robots who are only learning facts and not life. Learning and experiencing social skills is just as important, IMO, as passing a test or scoring high on a CMT or CAPT.

Thanks for your continued sound college advice. Do you offer consulting services for families withRead More college bound students?

My thought is if one really wants to go to college...several things. Be sure BEFORE you have a jobRead More offer first and it is guaranteed. Try to get the employer to flip the tab if He/She is "requiring" college. But, for sure be sure you are covered when You are done w/college. The other point is this...do not ask for fiancial aid.. DEMAND it. Speak up and be heard. Let them know you will not be made a stooge of like Glen has been in this town for 52 years
