Tacos Guadalajara

In business for 30 years at this location, there isn't much that Tacos Guadalajara owner Galdino Velasco doesn't know about the city of Stamford. As the president and founder of the Latino Foundation of Stamford (LAFOS), he has channeled most of his energy into community relations, not only in "the city that works," but in Neza, Mexico, Stamford's sister city south of the border.

Velasco is a huge soccer fan and family man who has seen the area grow from a small town with dirt roads to a thriving business center. As far as his tacos are concerned, though, he simply lets his clientele do the talking. Television personalities, including Maury Povich, Jerry Springerand Steve Wilkos, all know where to find Velasco and have his number on speed dial. The WWE Superstars have filmed three commercials at this location and frequently dine at the Atlantic Street outpost.

In addition to tacos, community service and celebrity praise, Velasco also has his own radio talk show that has kept the local Latino population up-to-date for the past 25 years. Tacos Guadalajara also has catering and delivery services. For more information on the foundation, visit www.LAFOSInc.org.
