<p>The State of Connecticut Geographical Area 1 Court at Stamford is the superior court for the city of Stamford and the towns of Darien and Greenwich. Its building on Hoyt Street also holds the criminal, civil, family and juvenile courts for the cities of Stamford and Norwalk, as well as the towns of Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, Wilton, Westport and Weston.</p>
<p>The courthouse opened in 2002 and combined separate buildings that held the Stamford-Norwalk Judicial District, the Geographical Area Courthouse No. 1, Juvenile Matters and the Office of Adult Probation. The building is 250,000 square feet and features seven criminal jury courtrooms, six civil jury courtrooms, two arraignment courts, two civil non-jury courtrooms, two family courtrooms, one housing courtroom and two juvenile matters courtrooms. It also features a law library, which is open to the public, a Court Service Center and a public information desk.</p>
