Editor's note: This article originally was posted by Rozanne Gates on Westport Patch.

Manny Margolis, the late civil rights attorney and Quinnipiac College constitutional law professor, will be honored at a benefit concert at Long Wharf Theatre's Stage II on Saturday May 31.

Bringing the music of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen to this venue, The Suzanne Sheridan Band is donating all proceeds from ticket sales to the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut to support their ongoing campaign to bring marriage equality to all 50 states.

Since the concert was first announced, 2 states - Pennsylvania and Oregon - have added their names to the list of states where same-sex marriage is legal bringing the total number of states with marriage equality laws to 19. There are still 31 states that do not have equal protection under the law for all their citizens.
