Here's a Bunch of Veteran's Day Weekend Fun

Check out these events in the area this long Veterans Day weekend:

  • Starts at 6 p.m.: "'The Space Between' is a new exhibition opening at WALA Gallery (Wilson Avenue Loft Artists) on Nov. 8, 2013.   • At any of the Colony Grill locations in Stamford, Fairfield or Milford, veterans will receive free pizza from 11:30 a.m until closing on Veteran's Day, Monday. Photos of men and women in uniform will also be accepted to be hung on the locations' walls in honor of their service. Locations available here.
  • "The Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk, Inc. (JLSN) is hosting its eighth annual FALL TAG SALE on Sunday, November 10, 2013 from 10 a.m. - 4p.m. at the JLSN Headquarters, 748 Post Road, Darien. Early bird shopping will take place from 9 -10 a.m. for a $10 early entrance fee." -- from an event listing on New Canaan Patch

  • A Book & Media Sale will take place Friday starting at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, hosted by Friends of the Byram Shubert Library,  a branch of the Greenwich Library, and will run through Sunday. 20,000 books, CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks and art will be available. $15 entrance fee.   • "Johnny Winter, a Grammy-Award-winning blues guitarist, singer and producer, is visiting Darien on Sunday, Nov. 10, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Johnny's Records (no relation), 45 Tokeneke Rd." -- from a post on Darien Patch
  • "The public is invited to attend the ceremony at the Darien Town Hall Veterans' Memorial Circle at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013. Members of Darien's Monuments and Ceremonies Commission and VFW Post Commander, Phil Kraft along with First Selectwoman, Jayme Stevenson will conduct the ceremony to honor all veterans. The ceremony begins promptly at 11 a.m. adhering to the custom of having this ceremony at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month which was the moment when the Armistice took effect in World War One." -- an event listing on Darien Patch
