6 Things You'll Want to Put on Your Stamford Calendar

The Stamford Innovation Center will host two-hour seminar Introduction to Mobile Application Development with IOS on Monday, Oct. 7. T. Michael (Mike) Rogers has 15 years experience leading Agile Product Development of marketing technology, B2B and B2C products, and new business for startups and established companies.

The Yankee Institute will host a luncheon with guest speaker Curtis Dubay, a Senior Policy Analyst at The Heritage Foundation, where he specializes in tax issues. The Tuesday, Oct. 8 discussion will focus on Connecticut tax policy and economic climate. Lunch — at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel — will begin at 11:30 a.m. Lunch tickets are $30 per person and include free parking. 

The documentary, Justice Is A Black Woman: The Life And Work Of Constance Baker Motley chronicles the life and work of Motley, an “unsung” hero of the civil rights movement, will be shown at The Avon Theatre on Tuesday, Oct. 8. There will be a discussion with the film's producer gary Ford Jr.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the Stamford Federal Credit Union and On-Site Shredding are sponsoring a free community shredding event. The community is invited to bring any personal documents such as account statements, direct mail offers, or cancelled checks to shredded at no cost. 

AARP Connecticut and the University of Connecticut, Stamford Campus will host an intergenerational Stamford Mayoral Candidate Forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. The theme of the forum is: Livable Communities, Good for All Ages and will feature questions on housing, transportation, education and the economy. Advance registration is required.

Head to the Stamford Museum & Nature Center Observatory on Friday night for a real treat in exploring the night sky, planets, stars, and more! Start by enjoying a presentation on Modeling the Moon, followed by a visit to view the night sky through a 22-inch telescope.
