Grilled Flank Steak

Barbecue weekend is here!  Here is a tried and true Grilled Flank Steak recipe.  The key is the marinade so it take a little planning ahead.  Fire up those grills this Memorial Day Weekend even if it is raining!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Pounds Flank Steak
  • 2 Chopped Garlic Cloves
  • 1/2 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 4 Tablespoons Fresh Lime Juice
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Hot Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 4 Chopped Shallots

 

SERVES FOUR

  1. In a large measuring cup or mixing bowl combine the garlic, soy sauce, lime juice, lemon juice, olive oil, toasted sesame oil, hot sauce, kosher salt, brown sugar and chopped shallots. 
  2. Mix well. 
  3. Place the steak in a large resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade in the bag over the steak. 
  4. Press out the excess air and turn the bag around to get the steak coated. 
    Refrigerate overnight turning the bag occasionally. 
  5. To grill the steak: Remove the steak from the refrigerator and remove from the bag. 
  6. Place on a large plate and let sit for 45 minutes to room temperature. 
  7. Prepare the grill to a medium hot fire.  Grill the steak for 6 minutes on each side for medium rare. 
  8. Remove from the grill and transfer to a cutting board. 
  9. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  10. Thinly slice against the grain.  Transfer to a serving platter.

People buy condo's, well they did initally because, get this, they were cheaper than real estate costs for detached homes in the 'burbs. They were affordable alternatives for young people and empty nesters. But we know what happens when greed factors in. If these management companies actually knew how to manage, instead of sending the pot of cash to some slob in North jersey, I'm pretty sure they would find someone to cut the grass for $1500 a month!

I have an apt in NYC where there is no way that I can BBQ. I just recently purchased a house in Wilton. The very first things that I did was go out and purchase a charcoal grill. I had been craving grilling for a very long time. I have to say that when I need to drive back to the city late Sunday nights I am not happy about it. Let me know if you try my recipe and how you like it! Have a great weekend!

Charcoal is better Victoria, I can't think of anything better than a nice spicy Malbec or New Zealand Shiraz to accompany! Thanks for the recipe, I'll save enough room for desert and daydreaming on the patio

I see your point Christine to a point. Politely speaking..you forgot something.. They are always sending you stuff in the mail about voting and meetings and nonsense like that which none of us really care about. ALSO, YES..on the snow removal. YET, we still have to brush off our car and dig out around our car.
