SoundWaters: Fun (and Some Education) on the Sound

Catch a wave and enjoy a sail on Long Island Sound.

If you’re looking for a family outing on the cooling waters of Long Island Sound, check out the schooner “SoundWaters”, sponsored by the environmental education non-profit of the same name.

The gorgeous 80 foot schooner sails from downtown Stamford for two hour family cruises each Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. ($20 per passenger).  And there are adult-oriented Sunset cruises Saturdays and Sundays at 6:30 p.m. ($30 per passenger).

The ship can handle up to 40 passengers, but you’ll never feel crowded.  In addition to helping the crew hoist the sails, kids can learn about the environment and aquatic life of Long Island Sound from well trained, kid-friendly instructors.

Guests are welcome to bring their own beverages and snacks for the daytime sailings.  Adult beverages are okay for the sunset cruises (in moderation).
