Outside of the Gym: A Beachside Workout

The warm, sunny weather prompts people to do a variety of things outdoors -- including exercise.

For personal trainer Rob Abruzzese and his client Lucas Petrone a recent run of warm sunny days prompted a change in their exercise regimen.

While dog walkers, runners and sunbathers shared the paths in Cove Island Park, Abruzzese and Petrone set up their own mini workout bootcamp. With a pounding music beat overriding the raucous calls of seagulls, the men worked through a series of lifts using a 40-pound kettle bell weight.

Petrone said the lifts were more exhililarating than "a boring run."
Abruzzese, who works at Exhaling Spa in Shippan and Underground Fitness in Stamford, says he likes to takes his clients outdoors whenever he can for a change of pace.

"We're out here in all types of weather," he said.

With the National Weather Service forecasting sunny weather with temperatures in the 80s through the weekend, visitors just may see the men working through their weight lifting routines.
