Stamford’s Brouwer Named Top Student-Athlete

Lillian Brouwer of Stamford has been selected as the top female student-athlete this term at The Harvey School in Katonah, N.Y. In making the announcement Friday, Harvey athletic director Mark Brandon presented the outstanding senior with a certificate before a school assembly.

Brouwer was chosen for the excellence she displays in the classroom, in athletics and in the broader school community. This term she has earned another Cavalier Scholar certificate, an award given to the student whose grade-point average is a 4.0 or higher.

While excelling in her academic load of four AP classes and one honors class, Brouwer is a key member of the Skyliners Synchronized Skating Senior team, which recently returned from Sweden where she and her teammates represented Team USA, placing fifth against top teams from Sweden and Finland. Last month, the Skyliners won a gold medal in Hershey, PA at the Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Championships. Later this month, she will compete with her teammates in the US Nationals at Colorado Springs.

Harvey athletic director Mark Brandon has high praise for this month’s top female student-athlete. “Lillian's dedication and time commitment to synchronized skating is an example to us all,” said Brandon.

The Harvey School is a coeducational college-preparatory school for students in grades six through 12.
