Shutouts abound as Stamford Little League season nears close

Carpentry Unlimited pitchers hurled back-to-back gems among four shutouts as Stamford Little League neared the end of its season.

Stamford Little League: North Stamford/Springdale Majors

Carpentry Unlimited 3, County TV 0 – June 10

Carpentry Unlimited’s Patrick Teasdale tossed a two-hit, complete game shutout victory over County TV 3-0 on June 10. Jack Hoch and Joe Johnson drove in Carpentry’s runs. County pitcher D.J. Hart kept the game close for four innings and supplied both hits. Jason Carroll caught a solid game for County.

Viking Construction 13, Clairol 0 – June 10

Viking Construction’s William Garofalo and Zach Furnari shut out Clairol on two hits in a mercy-rule shortened 13-0 victory on June 10. Furnari and Adam Stone each belted three-run homers in the rout. Benji Fuchs played stellar defense at second and Kyle Hammel, who had three hits, made an outstanding catch in center.

Chris Price and Calvin McKeever had Clairol’s only hits. Connor Robb pitched well in relief.

Abercrombie 5, Italian Center 3 - June 10

Pitcher John Fahan nearly went the distance and A.J. Rakoczy belted a solo home run as Abercrombie, Burns, McKiernan & Co. Insurance downed Italian Center 5-3 on June 10. Matt Eldredge added a hit and provided solid defense at second for Abercrombie.

Christian Frattaroli and Ethan Skaug pitched well for IC and each chipped in singles. Aidan Hamilton and Jack Robinson added to the IC offense while Pete Blonkvist played good defense.

Boot Camp 10, Sound View Engineering 0 – June 11

Robert Smeriglio and Mark Lombardo combined on a 1-hitter for Boot Camp in a 10-0 shutout of Sound View Engineering on June 11. Jason Marchese’s two hits and three RBI paced Boot Camp while Brian Smith reached base all three times, scoring twice.

Andrew Stietzel and Zach Farrell played well for Sound View.

RMS Construction 13, Unity 12 (9 innings) – June 11

Todd Guttman stroked a walk-off single for RMS Construction as it outlasted Unity 13-12 in nine innings on June 11. Starting pitcher Matt Mailhot pitched 4.2 solid innings for RMS. Ethan Wilburn, Todd Guttman and Aidan Nestor all had multi-hit games.

Starter James Miller pitched five strong innings, allowing only three hits and fanning eight. He added two hits at the plate while teammate Connor Rondano blasted a two-run homer. Joey Giambalvo added hits, and Cole Glatzhofer hit a double and scored twice.

Carpentry Unlimited 10, First County Bank 0 – June 11

Matt Tiplady whiffed 14 in five-plus scoreless innings, hit a homer and drove in five RBI to drive Carpentry Unlimited to a 10-0 win over First County Bank. Kris Dushi and Joe Johnson had key hits and Patrick Teasdale reached base safely four times.

George Psichopaidas and Dan D’Arinzo supplied hits for First County Bank.

Unity 5, Clairol 4 (4 innings) – June 13

Connor Rondano and Jackson Uhl had two hit apiece as Unity edged Clairol 5-4 in a rain-shortened match on June 13. Tucker Healy struck out five in four innings of work for Unity.

Ben Servedio hit a three-run homer for Clairol, and Anthony Lowe added two singles.

Boot Camp 12, Italian Center 2 – June 14

Mark Lombardo’s three hits and three RBI led a hot Boot Camp offense in a 12-2 win over Italian Center on June 14. Jason Marchese (triple) and Ben Nash (two doubles), Chase Senecal (triple, three RBI) each had a dual-hit game. Lombardo also threw three shutout innings.

Leading the Italian Center efforts with hits were Max Saint, Ethan Skaug and Ryan Kennedy.

AAA/Jr. Majors

Buffalo Wild Wings 10, John M. Stanise CPA 4 – June 10

Matt DeJesus (two RBI), Jordan Bowbeer (three runs), Alec Frohn (two RBIs) and Ryder Kurtz (three RBI) all had two hits for Buffalo Wild Wings in a 10-4 win over John M. Stanise CPA on June 10. Kurtz fanned nine in 3.2 innings pitching.

Nicholas Seitaridis led Stanise with three hits and three RBI. Justin Orecchio chipped in a pair of hits, an RBI and three steals. Leonora Lipson swiped four bags and Aryan Kapoor took two while Curtis Tenney made two strong defensive plays.

Vinny’s Backyard 6, P2 Telecom 5 – June 11

Levi Lisack clubbed three hits and Kyle Bancroft drove in three on a pair of base-knocks as Vinny’s Backyard beat P2 Telecom 6-5 on June 11. Bancroft, Wyatt Lisack and Andrew Carroll pitched well for Vinny’s while Jon Iacovacci tossed out a would-be base stealer at third.

P2 scored all its runs in the third with Lucas Giantomidis driving in two on a single, Jackson Zak driving in one and Henry Oliver adding a single.

AAA/Jr. Majors Playoffs

Instant Replay 6, U.S. Computer Connection 5 – June 14
Instant Replay surprised top-seeded U.S. Computer Connection 6-5 in their opening playoff game on June 14. Starting pitcher Brandon Velez (three innings) retired the side in the first on just three pitches, and Vishnu Duriseti closed it with 1-2-3 sixth. Matthew Tierney had three hits, and Bennett Ehret and Emerson Day drove in two RBI each.

Hunter Sparks and Connor McGee each had three hits for U.S. Computer, and Sean Jones contributed with a single and run scored.

AA/Minors

Extreme Auto Body 6, John M. Stanise CPA 2 – June 10

Logan O’Neill had two hits and a run scored in John M. Stanise CPA’s 6-2 loss to Extreme Auto Body on June 10. Yanni Karipides and Colin Sasser each knocked in a run while Karipides and Bruce Rutherford combined for solid mound work.

Plaza Realty 11, Super K Electric 5 – June 11

Plaza Realty’s Joseph Colon and Tim Wong held Super K Electric scoreless through two innings, fanning four, in an 11-5 win on June 11. Colon (two RBI), Nate Smith, Andrew Lanzillotti and Will Moskowitz had two hits each. Jack Driscoll and Lanzillotti hooked up in a double play as well.

Toyota of Stamford 9, GCG 3 – June 14

Robby Grande had three hits and Bryan Larkin two for GCG as it fell 9-3 to Toyota of Stamford on June 14.

Stamford Toys 6, Astacio Plumbing 4 – June 14

Brady Moore, Zachary Price, Billy Parker and Zach Voros each had two hits for Stamford Toys in its 6-4 win over Astacio Plumbing on June 14. James Raidt had three hits for Astacio and was solid on the mound.

Super K Electric 4, John M. Stanise CPA 3– June 14

Justin Fuchs had two hits while his brother Travis drove in a pair to go with a stellar pitching performance as Super K Electric beat John M. Stanise CPA 4-3 on June 14. Super K also strong pitching from Connor Hoch and RBI from William Carragher and Markus Dushi. Stanise was led by Logan O’Neill’s two hits and Evan Psichopaidas’ RBI single. Colin Sasser also pitched well to go with his three hits.

Extreme Auto Body 11, Plaza Realty 10 – June 14

Extreme Auto Body came back from a five-run deficit to slip past Plaza Realty 11-10 on June 14. Derek DiBenedetto, Nicholas Brillo, Andrew Thompson and Jacob Leibowitz combined for 11 hits and five RBIs for Extreme. Joseph Colon tallied four RBI on four hits for Plaza.

Plaza Realty 5, Toyota of Stamford 4 – June 15

Nate Smith’s drove in the winning run with two out as Plaza Realty edged Toyota of Stamford 5-4 on June 15. Plaza’s Joe Colon (three RBI) and Jack Driscoll each had three hits while Jake Frattaroli, C.J. Demarco, Tyler Thielen and David Schleimer each added two.

William Markline’s three-hit, three-RBI performance led Toyota. Connor Robinson also had three hits and Thibaud Rubin added two hits while scoring twice.

Super K Electric 7, Astacio Plumbing 5 – June 15

Justin Fuchs and Markus Dushi each blasted four hits as Super K Electric won a back-and-forth game against Astacio Plumbing 7-5 in the AA/Minors loser’s bracket playoffs. Travis Fuchs and Dhruv Khanna had several fine plays to go with their hitting.

James Raidt led Astacio with stellar defense, and brothers Logan and Tyler Bruno both had key hits.
