Instant Replay wins Springdale Majors title

Instant Replay won the second half of the season, finishing the year 19-2 overall to earn the Springdale Majors championship. Stanise CPA took the AAA/Jr. Majors crown; Stamford Toys won the AA/Minors title.

Springdale Majors

Instant Replay 13, Clairol 2 – June 16

David Collazo clubbed three hits, including a homer, and fanned eight in five innings pitching to lead Instant Replay over Clairol 13-2. Anthony Possidento also had three hits (double, three runs) and Matt Jester and Sterling Gregg (double) each added two in the win. Jaden Dawkins and Jay Lockwood each scored two runs for IR.

Calvin McKeever singled, tripled and scored both runs for Clairol while allowing just four earned runs on four hits in 4.1 innings pitching. Mike Iorfino added two hits while Connor Robb and Ben Servedio each drove in a run.

Carpentry Unlimited 10, RMS Construction 0 – June 17

Joe Johnson’s three hits and five RBI led Carpentry to a 10-0 win over RMS Construction. Pete Johnson added a pair of hits and sparkled defensively while Patrick Teasdale allowed just one hit in three-plus shutout innings of pitching.

Justin Palmer had the lone hit for RMS on a perfectly placed bunt.

Instant Replay 16, Boot Camp 4 – June 18

Jay Lockwood (three hits), Nick Racaniello (two runs), Tyler Tuccinardi (three RBI) and Anthony Possidento (triple, three RBI) had multi-hit games as Instant Replay downed Boot Camp 16-4. Anthony Lueck picked up the win in relief.

Robert Smeriglio homered and reached base three times for Boot Camp. Evan Field, Aiden Rella and Luke Noonan all added singles and scored runs. Dan Lombardo picked up his first hit in the Majors.

Clairol 9, RMS Construction 7 – June 19

Chris Price collected three hits, three RBI and a two-inning save as Clairol downed RMS Construction 9-7. Calvin McKeever added two singles while Kyle Bancroft, Wesley Gonzalez and Anthony Lowe contributed big hits.

Justin Palmer (two doubles), Ethan Wilburn (two doubles) and Todd Guttman each had a pair of hits for RMS. Matt Mailhot, Avery Mui and Aiden Nestor also delivered key hits.

Carpentry Unlimited 2, Abercrombie 1 – June 20

Carpentry Unlimited’s Matt Tiplady allowed a lead-off double to John Fahan then held Abercrombie, Burns, McKiernan & Co. Insurance hitless, striking out 13, in a 2-1 win. Pete Johnson’s two hits powered Carpentry, and he drove home Kris Dushi on a long double to win the game. Tiplady also doubled.

A.J. Rakoczy pitched well for Abercrombie, combining with Fahan to hold Carpentry to three hits while fanning 12.

Instant Replay 7, Boot Camp 3 – June 20

Matt Jester (two doubles, two RBI) and Jay Lockwood (two hits, double, three RBI) powered Instant Replay over Boot Camp 7-3. Anthony Possidento scored twice and doubled, and Brenden Mulvany played well defensively in the win. Lockwood picked up the win pitching five innings, fanning seven, while Connor Sullivan picked up the save with three strikeouts.

Jason Marchese had two hits and scored two runs for Boot Camp while Robert Smeriglio had a double and RBI. Aiden Rella added a single.

AAA/Jr. Majors

John M. Stanise CPA 3, Haggerty Pools 2 – June 21

Krishan Kapoor’s bases-loaded single in the bottom of the sixth let John M. Stanise CPA walk off with the Stamford Little League AAA/Jr. Majors championship 3-2 over Haggerty Pools. Kevork Tchakmakjian pitched four strong innings (five Ks, two runs) and Justin Orecchio closed it with two shutout innings (five Ks). Orecchio also hit two doubles while Christopher Bawden drove in an RBI and Andrew Buchkowski added a hit and four steals.

For Haggerty Pools, Christian Rubino-Chuckas drove in a run on a triple. Jeffrey D'Ambrosio held Stanise hitless over 1.2 innings, striking out four. Joseph Malozzi added two hits.

Haggerty Pools 11, Ahneman Kirby 5 – June 18

Christian Rubino-Chuckas tossed 3.2 innings of two-hit ball, striking out seven, and doubled in a key run as Haggerty Pools beat Ahneman Kirby 11-5 to reach the semi-finals. Eric Osterhus finished the game on the hill strongly and drove in three at the plate on a double. Haggerty received big hits from Joseph Malozzi (two RBI), Francesca Rubino-Chuckas (RBI) and Andrew Zapata (two RBI triple).

Ahneman Kirby, down 10-0 at one point, received big hits from Miles Aquila, Daniel Salm and Dominic Donofrio (RBI), Sam Engel (two RBI) and Mark Lovishuk (RBI). Ryan Oates pitched well over three innings.

Ahneman Kirby 10, Vinny’s Backyard 8 – June 14

Miles Aquila, Matthew Cotaj and Sam Engel led the Ahneman Kirby offense in a 10-8 win over Vinny’s Backyard. Daniel Salm pitched well for the winners. Kyle Bancroft laced three hits and drove in two for Vinny’s while Wyatt Lisack had a double among his two hits and Levi Lisack added a single and a run.

Haggerty Pools 8, P2 Telecom 2– June 14
Francesca Rubino-Chuckas had three hits while her brother Christian struck out 10 in 3.2 scoreless innings on the hill to led Haggerty Pools in an 8-2 first-round playoff win. Christian, Michael Lueck, Eric Osterhus and Joseph Malozzi all had big RBI hits for the Haggerty. Vincent DiTeodoro made a spectacular catch in right field to temper a P2 rally.

Sam Ramos (two hits), Dylan Winford (double), Lucas Giantomidis, Ryan Page and Henry Oliver all had hits for P2.

AA/Minors

Stamford Toys 8, Super K Electric 1 – June 21
Stamford Toys defeated Super K Electric 8-1 to capture the AA/Minors Championship for Stamford Little League. Nicholas Cannon blasted a three-run homer while Caleb Weiss and Zachary Price each had two hits. Zach Voros and Brady Moore pitched two strong innings for Toys.

Connor Hoch had a long double for Super K while Justin Fuchs and Travis Fuchs each had a hit and also combined for two scoreless innings pitched.

Super K Electric 6, Extreme Auto Body 5 (7 innings) – June 19

Super K Electric advanced from the loser’s bracket to the AA Championship Game by slipping past Extreme Auto Body 6-5 in extra innings. Connor Hoch’s hit off the centerfield fence knocked in the go-ahead run with two outs in the 7th inning. Super K’s Justin Fuchs had three hits and Dhruv Khanna added two along with several great defensive plays. Aniket Iyer and Michaela Dukes also scored key runs.

Nick Brillo and Mathew Fleming led Extreme with big RBI while Harrison Mirkin and Mike DiPreta also had strong days at the plate and in the field.  

Stamford Toys 14, Extreme Auto Body 5 – June 18

Stamford Toys advanced to the AA Championship Game by defeating Extreme Auto Body 14-5. Zach Voros, Nicholas Cannon and Brady Moore (three-RBI double) all had three hits to pace the Toys’ offense while Zachary Price, Billy Parker, Michael Garofalo, Caleb Weiss and Matthew Quaglino all had multi-hit games. Harrison Mirkin, Nicholas Brillo, Mike DiPreta (double) and Matthew Fleming (RBI) all had key hits for Extreme while C.J. Berlingo added good defense.

Super K Electric 6, Plaza Realty 4 – June 17

Markus Dushi blasted three hits as Super K Electric outlasted Plaza Realty 6-4. Connor Hoch and Justin Fuchs had big RBI hits along with good pitching and defense while Michaela Dukes had a key late-game RBI to push Super K over the top. Joe Colon and Nate Smith led Plaza with two hits and RBI each. Tyler Thielen added a two-run double.
