Clairol win streak to 8, takes 2 from 1st half champs Carpentry

Clairol extended its winning streak to eight last week, taking down first-half champs Carpentry Unlimited (0-2 second half, 8-4 overall) in two pitchers’ duels.

Clairol (2-0, 8-4 overall) this week seeks to avenge two first-half losses against RMS Construction (2-0, 6-6 overall). RMS started off the new half with two victories over Instant Replay (0-2, 2-10 overall).

Clairol 3, Carpentry Unlimited 2 (7 innings) – May 14
Joey Price and Ben Servedio tossed a combined no-hitter for 5 2/3 innings as Clairol squeaked past Carpentry Unlimited 3-2 in extra frames on May 14.

Carpentry managed just two hits, consecutive infield singles by Matt Rubino and Matt Doyle with two outs in the bottom of the sixth and the score tied. Price and Servedio, who picked up the win in relief, combined to strike out 13.

Servedio’s two-RBI double tied the game in the fifth for Clairol. Christopher Price singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh. Jelani Jackson had three hits in the game. Jay Daniel added a rally-starting single.

Carpentry pitchers Doyle, Rubino, Nick Chuckas, and Matt Tiplady combined to fan 10, and pitch out of several jams.

RMS Construction 8, Instant Replay 5 – May 15
RMS Construction defeated Instant Replay Sports 8-5 behind starting pitcher Erik Bannister’s four hits and four RBIs.

RMS reliever Drew Papp, who struck out five in two innings, chipped in with single and RBI. Shortstop Todd Guttman had a triple and scored twice; Justin Palmer singled and a scored. Javier Peters made several fine defensive plays in center field while catcher Isaac Cadigan, Anthony Karwaski, Matt Mattioli and Ethan Wilburn each contributed with their gloves.

Matt Jester’s two hits, including a triple, and two runs scored lead the Instant Replay offense. Ian Macari (two RBIs), Jaden Dawkins, Jay Lockwood (RBI), Anthony Possidento (RBI) and Sterling Gregg all contributed hits.

Clairol 4, Carpentry 2 – May 17
Chris Price drove in three runs, including a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth, to put Clairol ahead to stay 4-2 over Carpentry Unlimited on May 17.   Joey Price belted a solo homer, double and single for Clairol while striking out eight over five innings to earn the win. Ben Servedio picked up the save. Jay Daniel provided a rally-sparking single for Clairol while Tyler Gillman, David Marciczkiewicz and Calvin McKeever make key defensive plays.

Carpentry pitchers Matt Tiplady (two hits), Nick Chuckas (one hit) and Matt Rubino (one hit) provided the bulk of the offense while displaying excellent control on the hill, walking just one and striking out seven. The team played errorless ball and turned a 1-2-3 double play to thwart a bases-loaded rally in the fourth.

RMS Construction 9, Instant Replay 4 – May 18
Instant Replay’s Sterling Gregg, Jay Lockwood and Anthony Possidento each singled, scored and drove in a run. Matt Jester and Tyler Tuccinardi added singles. Jester, Smolak, Lockwood and Brenden Mulvany handled the pitching for Instant Replay.

U.S. Computer 12, OneVac 7 – May 13
U.S. Computer Connection, led by two-hit, two-RBI games from Joe Malozzi and Avery Mui, downed OneVac 12-7 on May 13.

Aiden Neigler and Miles Leslie each scored two runs and contributed singles as did Hannah Chuckas for U.S. Computer. John Ryan Dowling scored three runs. Connor Sullivan pitched two scoreless innings.

OneVac’s offense was led by Brian Smith, who roped a double. Kyle Bancroft, Anthony Lowe and Kristofer Dushi all contributed hits. Daniel Vetti robbed an extra-base hit with a great catch in left center. Anthony Lowe added some fine defensive plays at shortstop and first base.

P2 Telecom 10, Mulberry Landscaping 6 -- May 13
In a battle with six lead changes, P2 Telecom finally chopped down Mulberry Landscaping 10-6, starting with a two-run bases loaded single by Harold Alvarez.

Ayden Molina had two hits and two RBIs while Luke Noonan and Seth Patchett knocked in runs for P2. Michael Iorfino led the P2 hurlers with five strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings. Lucas Giantomidis helped anchor the defense.

Mulberry received solid pitching from Aidan Nestor and Brandon Velez. Velez added two hits as did Peter Passaro while Kyle Morrell notched a triple. Alex Lanzillotti drove in a clutch RBI. Nestor added some nice fielding.

P2 Telecom 9, OneVac 7 – May 15
Solid pitching by Seth Patchett and Mike Iorfino (five strikeouts) and a clutch three-RBI triple by Ayden Molina helped P2 Telecom jump to an early lead in a 9-7 victory over OneVac on May 15.

Luke Noonan and Nick Huempfner each added two hits and an RBI for the winners while Iorfino, Dhruv Rokkam, Stevie Garst and Jerry Conetta all contributed base knocks.

OneVac’s Kyle Bancroft held P2 to one run over two innings, and flashed the leather in the field as did Anthony Lowe and Leonora Lipson. Bancroft, Nicolas Valenzano and Daniel Vetti each had two hits while Sam Ramos has two steals.  

U.S. Computer 15, Mulberry Landscaping 8 – May 15
U.S. Computer Connection mowed down Mulberry Landscaping 15-8 on May 15, led by Connor Sullivan’s two-double, five-RBI night.
John Ryan Dowling had two hits, Chase Senecal banged a triple, and Oliver Anderes and Aiden Neigler each contributed singles for U.S. Computer. Quick reflexes from second baseman Casey Ciocci quashed an early charge by Mulberry.

Mulberry fought back with five runs in their final at bat, but came up short. Its offense was led by Daniel Maloney and Aidan Nestor, who had two hits including a three-RBI double.

P2 Telecom 8, Mulberry Landscaping 8 – May 18
Mulberry Landscaping rallied for four runs to play to an 8-8 draw against P2 Telecom on May 18.

Mulberry’s rally in the fifth started with Declan Nestor's lead-off double and ended with his brother Aidan's RBI. Danny Maloney pitched two scoreless innings while scoring three on offense. Alex Lanzillotti had a three-run triple while Wesley Gonzalez also tripled. Ameer Theodore, Maloney and Aidan Nestor all made great defensive plays.

Harold Alvarez had two hits and two RBIs for P2, who also had Mike Iorfino, Andrew Patashnik and Stevie Garst knock in runs. Luke Noonan added two hits while Jake Smith, Dhruv Rokkam each had a pair of stolen bases. Seth Patchett also played solid defense.
