Boot Camp win streak at 4; O'Connor HR a breakthrough for girl power

Instant Replay defeats RMS 7-3
Starting pitcher Jay Lockwood pitched four solid innings, yielding one run and striking out nine, while Matt Jester closed out the victory as Instant Replay defeated RMS Construction 7-3 on April 11.

Mike Smolak led Instant Replay with two hits and two RBIs. Sterling Gregg and Ian Macari added singles and a pair of RBIs each.

Jay Nieves contributed three hits, including a triple, and drove in two for RMS while teammates Justin Palmer and Erik Bannister each added two hits.

Palmer’s 4 hits paces RMS
Justin Palmer’s four hits and two runs scored led an RMS Construction lineup in which every player had at least one hit in a 13-3 victory over Clairol on April 15.

Jay Nieves, Erik Bannister and Javier Peters each had two hits and two runs scored with both of Peters’ hits being doubles. Rookie Matt Mattioli collected his first two hits, adding an RBI and run scored. Brian Wei, Todd Guttman and Anthony Karwaski each collected a hit and scored a run while Drew Papp and AAA call-up Connor Sullivan also added hits. Bannister, Papp and Guttman handled the pitching.

Clairol starting pitcher Ben Servedio held RMS close for three innings, yielding three runs and striking out two without issuing a walk. Frank Gentile played a fine centerfield for Clairol, adding a single and two RBIs while Jelani Jackson added a hit and stole four bases.

Boot Camp beats Instant Replay 15-1
Boot Camp defeated Instant Replay 15-1 behind the solid pitching of Ryan Lionetti, Austin Byrnes and Robert Smeriglio on April 16.

Evan Field’s pair of hits and three RBIs led Boot Camp’s offense while rookie Aiden Rella collected his first hit of the season.

Brendan Mulvaney pitched well in his mound stint for Instant Replay while Domenic Demasi contributed with great plays in the field. IR’s Mike Smolak added a single and a run scored.

O’Connor’s homer, pitching leads Abercrombie
Winning pitcher Andrea O’Connor belted what is thought to be the first over-the-fence home run by a female in Springdale Little League’s 60-year history as Abercrombie, Burns, McKiernan & Co. Insurance beat Carpentry Unlimited 7-5 on April 17.

O’Connor, who had two hits and two RBIs in total, struck out seven in five innings. Abercrombie’s Joe Nathanson and Sebastian Delos Santos each knocked a couple of hits. Second baseman John Fahan, left fielder Luke Noonan and catcher Connor Sullivan contributed to the win with strong defense.

Carpentry’s Matt Doyle had two hits on the day while Nick Chuckas added a double.

RMS shuts out Clairol
Strong hitting and pitching by RMS Construction shut down Clairol 10-0 on April 18.

Clairol (0-4 on the season) managed just two hits off Erik Bannister, who stuck out nine for RMS (3-1).

Todd Guttman (two singles) and Drew Papp (single, triple) had two hits each for RMS. Javier Peters belted a three-run double while Justin Palmer, Matt Mattioli, Isaac Cadigan and Ethan Wilburn each added hits.

Catcher Tyler Gillman and infielder Jay Daniels had Clairol’s only hits.

Shut out keeps Boot Camp perfect 
Boot Camp moved to 4-0 on the season by shutting down Instant Replay 15-0 on April 19.

Boot Camp’s lineup was led by Ben Nash (three hits, three RBIs, two runs scored) and Austin Byrnes (two hits including a triple, four RBIs, three runs). Maxwell Goldfluss added a triple and Christian Tarzia a double.

Sterling Gregg had a couple hits for Instant Replay (1-3) while Anthony Possidento added a single and Brendan Mulvaney played well defensively.
 
Abercrombie outlasts Carpentry in extras
In a game with nine lead changes and 27 hits, Abercrombie, Burns, McKiernan & Co. Insurance edged past Carpentry Unlimited in an eight-inning affair on April 20.

John Fahan scored the go-ahead run for Abercrombie (2-2 on the season) after leading off the eighth with a triple, his second hit on the day. A.J. Rakoczy had three hits, including a double, with two RBIs and three runs scored. Joe Nathanson (two hits) made two great plays at third base to keep the game tied.

Matt Eldridge and Rakoczy split the pitching duties for Abercrombie, striking out 14 in total.   For Carpentry (2-2), Matt Rubino went four-for-four and struck out three in his pitching debut. Matt Doyle blasted his first homer among three hits and two RBIs on the day. Matt Tiplady also had three hits, one of them a triple, and struck out 11 in 4-plus innings on the mound. Nick Chuckas has two hits and three walks at the plate, scoring three times, while rookie Jack Hoch smacked a three-run double with two-out in the bottom of the sixth to send the game into extras.

Springdale AAA

P2 Telecom defeats OneVac 15-11
In Springdale AAA action, P2 Telecom defeated OneVac 15-11 on April 20.

Jake Smith, Luke Noonan and Seth Patchett pitched well for P2. Harold Alvarez blasted a three-run homer while Noonan had two hits and Patchett added a triple and three RBIs. Great hustle by Michael Iorfino contributed a key defensive out at first base.

Leonora Lipson provided a gutsy pitching performance as well as three singles at the plate for OneVac. Kyle Bancroft added two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs. Daniel Vetti, Gianne Jones and Nick Humphner all scored two runs.

U.S. Computer deletes Mulberry 7-6
U.S. Computer slipped past Mulberry Landscaping 7-6 on April 20, thanks to solid defense and relief pitching.   Avery Mui and James Fahan threw well off the hill for U.S. Computer, which benefited from centerfielder Casey Ciocci and shortstop Chase Senecal combining on a relay to mow down a Mulberry runner at the plate. Fahan and Senecal drove in critical runs in the third inning. John Ryan Dowling scored three runs and Connor Sullivan added two hits.

Mulberry benefited from a strong three-inning pitching effort from Ameer Theodore and a solid inning from Kyle Morrell. Christopher Bawden and Danny Maloney had two hits each for Mulberry while Peter Passaro and Declan Nestor added to the offense.
