Westhill, the defending CIAC Class LL state champions, remained undefeated by rallying for a 5-3 victory over Staples on Monday afternoon.
Winning pitcher Allison Macari helped her own cause by ripping a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning that snapped a 3-3.
Staples (4-2, 4-2) had tied the game with two runs in the top of the sixth. Catherine Lomanto delivered an RBI single to make it 3-2, then scoring the tying run on a throwing error.

The Wreckers, who have dropped two in a row following a 4-0 start, are back in action on Wednesday at Bassick. Westhill hosts Ridgefield on Wednesday.
