The Trinity Catholic football team survived a frantic fourth-quarter rally to defeat city rival Westhill 28-22 on Saturday in the season opener for both teams.
The Crusaders appeared to be in control with a 28-7 lead entering the fourth quarter, but the Vikings made it interesting with a pair of scores in the final 12 minutes.
Westhill quarterback R.J. Cooper, who had three touchdowns in the game, threw a 71-yard TD strike to Dylan Moye, then connected with Dave Engel for a 12-yard TD.

After the second score, Westhill went for two, and Cooper hit Yveson Cassamajor for the conversion points.
The Crusaders jumped out to a 21-0 lead on an 8-yard TD run by Jeff Cortese and 1-yard TD bursts by Shaquan Howsie and Michael Davis.

After Cooper found Davell Cotterell for a 42-yard TD pass to make it 21-7 at the half, Cortese plowed in from the 2-yard line in the third quarter to give the Crusaders a 21-point lead.
