Tremain Frazier scored 21 points as the Crusaders crushed the Lions 91-56 in a battle for third place in the FCIAC standings.

Trinity Catholic, which was coming off a 59-54 loss to Fairfield Warde, improved to 12-4 overall and 11-3 in the FCIAC. Bassick dropped to 12-4 and 10-4.

Jason Boswell added 17 points for Trinity Catholic, which jumped out to a 22-10 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 45-24 at the half.

The Crusaders continued to execute after the intermission, outscoring the Lions 46-32 in the second half.

Four players scored in double figures for Trinity Catholic as Kevin Leumene had 14 points, Schadrac Casimir added 12 and Brandon Wheeler chipped in with 11.

Demetrius Thomas scored 18 points and Jerrond Rogers added 11 for Bassick.

The unbeaten record of the St. Joseph High School boys basketball team is intact, but just barely.

James Jennings hit the winning basket with 11 seconds remaining Tuesday as the Cadete eked out a 67-65 victory over Westhill to improve to 15-0 overall and 13-0 in the FCIAC

The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for Westhill, which dropped to 10-5 and 9-4.

Timajh Parker scored 26 points to lead the Cadets while Jennings added 17 and 13 rebounds. Patrick Hopkins chipped in with 10 points for St. Joseph and also grabbed 13 boards.

Tony Dobbinson scored 22 points and Chris Walters added 18 for the Vikings, who trailed 40-33 at the half but pulled within 54-50 entering the final period.

The Stamford boys basketball team could be making its move.

Barry Boderick scored 17 points Tuesday as the Black Knights defeated Norwalk 64-56 to move over .500 for the first time this season.

Ancel Nevers added 13 points for Stamford, which placed five players in double figures.Bryan Boderick and Shawn Padilla each had 12 and Kenny Wright added 10.

The Black Knights improved to 8-7 overall and 7-6 in the FCIAC as they are fighting for a spot in the league playoffs.

Jabari Dear scored 16 points to lead Norwalk and Delshawn Wilson added 10 for the Bears, who dropped to 9-7 and 7-7.

Stamford outscored Norwalk 15-11 in each of the first two quarter to build a 30-22 lead at the intermission, then outscored the Bears 20-17 in the third period to take a 50-39 edge into the final quarter.

The Norwalk girls basketball team improved its FCIAC playoff hopes with a 41-36 victory over Stamford on Tuesday in a battle for first place in the FCIAC Central Division.

Erica Cohens scored 12 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter for the Bears, who improved to 12-5 overall and 10-5 in the FCIAC. Stamford slipped to 9-8 and 9-6.

Emma Oyomba scored 17 to lead the Bears, who trailed 30-26 early in the fourth period.

Kelsey Cognetta tallied 14 ;points to pace Stamford and Kelsey Santagata added 10 for the Black Knights, who led 19-16 at the half.

The win left Norwalk alone in sixth place in the FCIAC standings while Stamford dropped into a four-way for seventh with Staples, Darien, Fairfield Warde and Westhill.

The St. Joseph High School girls basketball team clinched an FCIAC playoff spot Tuesday with a 57-44 victory at Westhill.

Nancy Stablein scored 15 points and Jessica Jowdy added 11 for the Cadets, who improved to 14-3 overall and 12-3 in the FCIAC.

With Wilton loss to Darien 33-28, St. Joseph also took over sole possession of first place in the FCIAC East.

Lauren Della Vecchia added 10 points for the Cadets, who built a 28-18 halftime lead, then outscored the Vikings 29-26 in the second half.

Taylor Evans scored 14 points for Westhill, which dropped to 9-8 and 8-7 and fell one game out of a FCIAC playoff spot with three games remaining in the regular season.

Mackenzie Griffin scored 19 points as the Trinity Catholic girls basketball team hammered winless Bassick 66-30 on Tuesday.

Anne Margaret Ellersten scored 11 points and Ali Palma added eight for the Crusaders, who used 18 players in the rout.

Trinity Catholic led 18-6 after the first quarter and 46-12 at the halftime. The Crusaders improved to 12-6 overall and 11-5 in the FCIAC.

Monica Amazon scored 13 points to pace Bassick, which dropped to 0-18 and 0-12.

The New Canaan boys hockey team suffered its third straight loss Tuesday, falling to Trinity Catholic 4-3 at the Terry Conners Rink.

John Shanahan scored the game winner just over five minutes into the overtime for the Crusaders, who rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the third period.

New Canaan, which was coming off a 5-4 loss to Fairfield, dropped to 8-6-1. while Trinity Catholic improved to 5-10.

Dylan Hart, Trent Nader and Chip Glover scored to give the Rams their 3-1 lead.

Jamey Shea, Steven Lambrinakos and Jeff Cortese also scored for the Crusaders. Cortese's tying goal came with just over a minute remaining in regulation.

The loss drops New Canaan, which is 4-3 in the FCIAC, into a five-way tie for fith with Fairfield, Trinity Catholic, Westhill and Trumbull.

The top six teams make the tier one playoffs under a new postseason format adopted by the FCIAC.

Ridgefield, Darien, Wilton and St. Joseph hold down the top four spots in the conference standings
