Tickets for the Fairfield County Sports Comission's seventh SportsNight awards dinner are available at a discounted price until Sept. 16.

SportsNight is Monday, Oct 17 at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich at 6 p.m. The six new members of the Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame will be inducted that evening. The 2011 honorees are: John Bagley (Bridgeport), Bennett Salvatore (Stamford), Joe DeSantis (Fairfield), Ceci Hopp St. Geme (Greenwich), Charlie Bentley (Bridgeport) and the late Albie Loeffler (Westport).

Among the 15 Sports Persons of the Year being honored include Darien High field hockey coach Mo Minicus, USA Hockey U18 World Champion Ryan Haggerty of Stamford, UConn baseball standout L.J. Mazzilli of Greenwich, State Swimmer of the Year Christian Higgins of New Canaan, New England Babe Ruth Tourney organizers Jim and Joe Parlanti of Norwalk and the 2010 FCIAC champion Class LL runnerup Staples High boys soccer team.

Dinner tickets are priced at $115 and will be raised to $125 after Sept. 16. Tables of 10 seats are priced at $1,150 and will go up to $1,250 after the 16th.

The 22nd annual Bobby Valentine Sports Gallery Tournament will be held Thursday, Sept. 22 at Sterling Farms with a 7:30 a.m. registration.

Foursomes and sponsors are welcome and all proceeds will benefit the Joseph Romano Scholarship Fund at Trinity Catholic.

Former University of Connecticut point guard Craig Austrie will be running clinics specializing in shooting and ballhandling at the Stamford Boys and Girls Club.

Clinic dates are: shooting, Sept. 17 -18, Oct. 15-16 and Nov. 19-20; ballhandling/guard moves: Oct. 1-2, Oct. 29-30 and Dec. 3-4.

Times are: Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Each clinic price is $180 (includes both days).

All instructors coaching the clinics have played NCAA Division 1 basketball. Every player will receive one-on-one time with Austrie and leave with a report card. Maximum 40 players.

Former UConn men's basketball star Kemba Walker will visit the Stamford Boys and Girls Club on Sept. 25 for a one-day clinic.

Aspiring basketball players from ages 7-15 will be taught the fundamentals of the game as part of the All Pro Sports Basketball Clinic, according to a press release.

The session, which will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., also includes a meet-and-greet and participants will receive an autographed picture of Walker, who helped the lead the Huskies to the national championship last season.

Walker was taken by the Charlotte Bobcats with the ninth overall pick in this year's NBA draft.

The clinic costs $60, but is free for members of the Stamford Boys and Clubs Club.

Registration is ongoing for the Volvo of Stamford Tour de Greenwich XXVII, a 20-mile bicycle race set for Sept. 18 at 7:30 a.m. The race starts at Greenwich High School.

The pre-entry registration fee is $35 with a cost of $45 on the morning of the race. Each participant will receive a long sleeve race shirt and a water bottle.

The day includes a post-race brunch,which will take place during the awards ceremony. A winner's jersey will be presented to the champion in each age group.

Entry forms may be obtained on the www.threadsandtreads.com website and at the Threads and Treads sporting goods store at 17 E. Putnam Ave. in Greenwich.

Max Lippolis of Pound Ridge, N.Y., won last year's race in 49:04 to edge Cos Cob's Alex Weil by three seconds.

Kristin Budden of Rye Brook, N.Y., was the woman's champion at 56:53, finishing a mere one second ahead of Darien's Rose Shabet.
