The Westhill softball team will play for a second consecutive CIAC Class LL state championship after routing No. 4 seed Bristol Central 8-2 in the semifinals on Tuesday at Stratford's Deluca Field.

The Vikings (23-1) will face No. 3 seed Conard in the championship game on Friday or Saturday. Conard advanced with a 10-2 win over Fairfield Warde in Tuesday's second semifinal.

Allison Macari scattered eight hits on Tuesday for the Vikings, who defeated Newtown 4-2 in last year's final. Macari had the winning hit in that game.

Elizabeth Joseph had two hits and three RBI for Westhill, which pounded out 13 hits on Tuesday.

-- Westhill's John Petrini and Brendan Pomerance, who are the top seeds,  have reached the finals of the CIAC Class LL doubles tennis state championship.

Petrini and Pomerance ousted No. 4 seeds C.J. Purse and Michael Grund of Greenwich 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals Tuesday. They will face Staples' second-seeded pair of Jake Hirschberg and Graham Hyman in the finals on Wednesday at the Yale University courts (4 p.m.)
