Chris Walters scored 22 points and Tony Dobbinson added 20 as the boys basketball team held on to defeat Fairfield Warde 75-70 on Tuesday night in Stamford.

The Vikings improved to 6-3, but not before nearly squandering a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Warde outscored Westhill 32-19 in the final period to make things interesting.

Sam Dorrisaint chipped in with 12 points for Westhill, which appeared to be in control with a 56-38 lead after the third quarter.

Sal Siciliano scored 20 points to pace the Mustangs, who dropped to 5-5.

Warde's Michael Wright (11) and Matt McTague (10) combined for all 21 of their pooints points in the fourth.

The Mustangs are off until next Tuesday when they host Fairfield Ludlowe in the annual battle for town bragging rights.

As expected, the Trinity Catholic boys basketball team enjoyed a laugher against Darien.

Pascal Chidiebere Chukwu scored 16 points Tuesday as the Crusaders cruised to an 80-43 victory over the Blue Wave in a game in which they never trailed.

Jason Boswell and Schadrac Casimir each added 13 points for the Crusaders, who improved 7-3.

After handing Danbury its first loss of the season with a 65-55 victory on Friday, Trinity Catholic took care of Darien early, building a lead of 22-13 after the first period.

Darien managed to hang in the game in the first quarter, but the Crusaders put away the contest during an overewhelming second period when they outscored the Blue Wave 22-5 to open a commanding 44-15 lead at the intermission.

Kyle Green scored 14 points to lead Darien, which dropped to 2-8. George Phillips and Liam Naughton each added nine for the Blue Wave.

Barry Boderick scored 25 points Tuesday, leading the Stamford boys basketball team to a 60-45 victory over Wilton.

Eric Houska scored nine points to lead Wilton, which dropped to 3-6. Sean Carroll and Chris Nugent chipped in with eight points apiece for the Warriors.

Wilton played the Black Knights (4-5) tough in the first half, only trailing 24-21 at the intermission.

But Stamford took control by outscoring the Warriors 22-8 in the decisive third quarter.

The Wilton girls basketball team moved within one game of clinching a state tournament berth after defeating Stamford 49-40 Tuesday night at the Zeoli Field House.

Maddy Fulton scored 14 points to lead the Warriors, who improved to 7-3. Casey Pearsall and Alyssa Malvarosa each added 13 in Wilton's balanced attack.

Wilton built a 20-16 halftime, then took a 37-26 edge into the final period after outscoring the Black Knights 17-10 in the third quarter.

Kelsey Cognetta had a game-high 17 points for slumping Stamford, which dropped to 6-5. The Black Knights have lost three in a row and five of their last six games.

The Fairfield Warde girls basketball team is starting to make some noise.

Jamera Fountain scored all 16 of her points in the first half Tuesday as the Mustangs defeated Westhill 50-43 for their third straight victory.

Tiara Fountain added 14 for Warde, which has won six of its last seven to improve to 7-5. The Mustangs are now off until next Tuesday when they town rival Fairfield Ludlowe.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Westhill, which dropped to 6-5.

Megan D'Alessandro scored a game-high 20 points for the Vikings, but no other player reached double figures for Westhill. Kate Kerrigan added a dozen for Warde.

After taking a 21-15 halftime lead, the Mustangs increased their advantage to 32-21 late in the third quarter.

The Vikings made a brief run, pulling within 36-31 with five minutes remaining before the Mustangs held on.

Meg Marren returned to the lineup in a big way for the Darien girls basketball team on Tuesday

Marren, who missed both games last week with a foot injury, scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, leading the Blue Wave to a 57-49 victory over Trinity Catholic.

Kate Bushell also scored 17 points for Darien, which improved to 6-5, while Emily Stein chipped in with 10 markers.

The Blue Wave got off to a slow start and trailed 12-8 after the first quarter. However, Darien turned things around by outscoring the Crusaders 21-10 in the second period to take a 29-20 lead at the half.

Kellie Hurd scored 14 points to pace Trinity Catholic, which dropped to 6-6. Mackenzie Griffin added a dozen for the Crusaders.

Trinity Catholic outscored Darien 12-7 in the third period to climb withi 36-34 entering the fourth quarter, but Darien pulled away by outscoring the Crusaders 21-15 over the final eight minut
