After losing to St. Joseph earlier in the week, the boys basketball team regained some of its luster Friday night.

Schadrac Casimir scored 23 points as the Crusaders handed Danbury its first loss of the season with a 65-55 victory.

Trinity Catholic improved to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the FCIAC while Danbury dropped to 7-1 and 5-1.

Danbury's loss left Ridgefield and St. Joseph as the FCIAC's only remaining unbeaten teams.

Brandon Wheeler added 19 points for the Crusaders, who overcame a 30-27 halftime deficit.

Trinity Catholic outscored Danbury 17-11 in the third quarter to take a 44-41 lead into the final period.

Danyjoel Harris scored 20 points and TJ Jackson added 12 for the Hatters, who played at St. Joseph on Tuesday.

On the same day it was forced to forfeit a win over Bassick for using an ineligible play, the Westhill boys basketball team suffered a 73-70 loss to Bridgeport Central.

A spirited comeback fell short for the Vikings, who trailed by 15 points after the third quarter.

Chris Walters, playing his third game since returning from an injury, led Westhill with 22 points. Sam Dorrisaint added 12 for the Vikings.

Central, which was coming off a surprising 78-74 double overtime loss to Staples, jumped out to a 42-28 lead at halftime.

Robert Blackwell paced four players in double figures with 15 points for the Hilltoppers. Josh Wilkerson added 15 while Tyler Ancrum and Yasaar Abdul  chipped in with 10 apiece.

Central improved to 5-2 while Westhill dropped to 4-4.

Casey Smith scored 24 points as the Danbury girls basketball team remained undefeated with a 56-46 victory over Trinity Catholic on Friday.

With St. Joseph ending Trumbull's 30-game FCIAC winning streak 51-41 on Friday. Danbury (10-0) now is the FCIAC's only unbeaten team.

Mackenzie Griffin had 16 points and 17 rebounds for the Crusaders, who dropped to 6-5.  Ali Palma scored 13 points and Kellie Hurd added 12 for Trinity Catholic. 

Danbury jumped out to a 14-7 lead after the first quarter and maintained a 21-13 edge at the half.

The Hatters then put away by outscoring the Crusaders 19-12 in the third quarter to take a 40-25 lead into the final period.

The Westhill girls basketball team improved to 6-4 with a 50-28 victory over Bridgeport Central on Friday.

Megan D'Alessandro scored 17 points to pace the Vikings, who opened leads of 18-4 after the first quarter and 34-10 at the half.

Steph Roones aded nine points for Westhill, which extended its lead to 45-14 after three periods.

Timisha Graham scored 11 points for the Hilltoppers, who dropped to 1-9.

It took eight games, but the Wilton boys hockey finally secured its first win of the season on Saturday.

Nick Wells made 28 saves as the Warriors blanked Westhill 4-0 at the Terry Conners Rink.

Alex Pagliaro gave Wilton (1-7) the only goal it needed with a shorthanded tally in the first period.

Matt Kobyra scored in the second period before Dillon Pastorello and Ben Marsh added goals in the final period to give the Warriors some more breathing room.

Westhill dropped to 0-6-1.

Dylan Hart had two goals and three assists to lead the New Canaan boys hockey team to an 8-2 victory over Stamford on Saturday at the Darien Ice Rink.

Jake Granito added a pair of goals for New Canaan, which won its third straight game to improve to 5-3. During the winning streak, the Rams have outscored their opponents by a combined margin of 23-4. They are 5-1 since starting the season 0-2.

New Canaan's other goals were scored by Tyler Manchuck (also two assists), Spencer Manchuck, Danny Newman and Matt Blasco.

Sal Dipreta and Carter Trabakino scored for Stamford, which dropped to 2-6-1.

Goaltender Chris Koennecke made 20 saves for New Canaan while Hunter Alderman stopped 27 shots for Stamford
