Stamford Scores and Standings: Aug 12

The two Stamford teams in action Thursday won their games in the 25th annual Sharkey Laureno baseball tournament at Cubeta Stadium.

In the 14-year-old division, Stamford Legion edged the Danbury Mohigans 3-2 to advance to the championship game against Rye Brook. The game will be played on Saturday at Cubeta at 10 a.m.

In the 15-year-old division, the Stamford Warriors defeated Throgs Neck, 9-5. finalizing the semifinals to be played on Friday.

At 5:30 p.m., the Stamford Blue Jays face the Stamford Warriors, followed by a 7:30 p.m. game between Harlem RBI and Stamford Legion.

The 15-year-old championship has been pushed back to Monday at 6 p.m.

 Stamford High graduate Todd Savatsky, a rising junior at Cetral Connecticut State University, is a pitcher for Fedell's Mechanics, which is playing in the NABF World Series this week in Louisville.  

Fedell's Mechanics fell 2-0 Thursday to Perdue Chicks of Maryland in its first game in the series.

Ten teams are entered in the tournament, and Fedell's is in pool B with Beecher Muskies, the defending national champions from Illinois, Perdue Chicks, Tampa Elite, and Louisville Star Drywall, the host team.

Fedell's continues pool play on Friday against Louisville Star Drywall. The tournament runs through Sunday.

The North American Hockey School Summer camps will take place at Terry Conners Ice rink in Stamford during August.

The All Phases Camp (power skating, shooting, defensemen) with Ryan Hughes and Eric Lund is Aug 15-19 for ages eight through bantams and midgets. Aug 22-26 features power skating, shooting, defense and goalie camps.
