Stamford's Ryan Haggerty was a member of the U.S. hockey team that won the 2011 IIHF World Men’s U-18 championship with a 4-3 overtime victory over Sweden in the gold medal game on Sunday in Germany.
Headed to RPI in the fall, Haggerty scored two goals in six games in the tournament.

The U.S. overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period to win its sixth gold medal in tournament history and third straight. The Americans also won gold in 2002, 2005 and 2006.
In 2008-09, Haggerty scored 27 goals and 31 assists in 25 games for the Trinity Catholic hockey team.
