Sciaretta is the 26th winner of the annual scholarship award.
According to one of her coaches, “Chelsea strives for excellence in every aspect of her life."
Sciaretta spends her summers playing softball with a highly competitive travel program and also coaches in the Upstart Division of the Stamford Youth Basketball league.
In the letters of recommendation from her coaches, she was described as “one of the most respectful, dependable, hard working and cooperative athletes that I have ever had the pleasure to come in contact with.
“Chelsea epitomizes leadership, athleticism and toughness all in one. She is the quintessential lead by example captain and a high character person who represents what the Allyson Rioux award stands for.”
Sciaretta has narrowed her college choices Chelsea to St. John’s University and the University of Connecticut.
She will be honored at the foundation's celebration dinner on May 12 from 6:30-9:30p.m. at the Italian Center in Stamford.
Tickets are still available for this event. They are $65 for adults and $25 for high school age and younger.
