The Stamford Police Association will host the annual Sergeant Joseph Pucci Memorial Golf Tournament on August 13, 2012 at the E. Gaynor Brennan Golf Course on Stillwater Road in Stamford. This year’s fundraising event will aid the family of Stamford Police Officer Troy Strauser, who was seriously injured on May 17, 2012 when he pursued a robbery suspect and plummeted 20 feet down onto the I-95 roadway.

Tickets are $150 per person and include golf (with a cart), lunch, dinner and open bar. The event is open to the general public. Sponsorships are also available with checks made payable to the “SPA Golf Tournament”. Each year proceeds from this event are donated to someone in need.

Officer Strauser underwent multiple surgeries after the fall. While Officer Strauser has since been released from the hospital, his injuries have placed an added financial burden on his family.

“The Stamford Police Association is honored to host this tournament each year, making a difference in the lives of people in the community who truly need a boost,” said Sergeant Joe Kennedy, president of the Stamford Police Association. “This year, one of our own is in need.  Officer Strauser went above and beyond the call of duty in his service to the Stamford community and we are proud to support him and his family during this difficult time.”
