27th Annual Mayor's Cup Race

The 27th annual Stamford Mayor's Cup regatta sponsored by The Halloween Yacht Club, The Breakwater Irregulars, and the City of Stamford will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2012.   The Mayor’s Cup is recognized as a major yachting event by the Yacht Racing Association of Long Island Sound and serves as a qualifying race for competitors who race for some of the prestigious prizes offered by the Yacht Racing Association including the Gitana, Sappho and Competitors trophies.  The first gun is at 1120 halfway between red bell “32” (the Cows) and the mid-sound buoy “32A”. Both spinnaker-equipped and non-spinnaker boats are welcome.   A special trophy is awarded to the best performance by a first time Mayor’s Cup participant.

Proceeds in excess of expenses will be contributed to the Young Mariners Foundation ( www.youngmarinersfoundation.org ).  YMF uses sailing and hands-on experiential learning to address the nationally recognized achievement gap affecting children from low income families.

Online registration is provided by our sponsor Yacht Scoring.  See www.hyc.net/mayorscup.htm for details.   Entries must be received no later than 6 pm on Friday June 8, 2012.  Upon receipt of your entry, racing instructions, scratch sheets, and other information will be provided electronically.    The entry fee of $40.00 includes a post-race reception and awards ceremony at Halloween Yacht Club.  Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia will present The Mayor's Cup and other trophies to the winners.
