Chelsea Piers brings Kristine Lilly camp to Stamford

Kristine Lilly, former pro soccer player and member of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team for 24 years, will bring her famed camp to Stamford this summer.

announced this week that Kristine Lilly, former pro soccer player and U.S. National Team player for more than two decades, would be bringing her soccer camp to Stamford this summer.

"I'm excited and I think it's going to be so great," Lilly said during a phone interview. "Kids will get to come to the camp from 8:45 to 3:45, and they'll get to practice some soccer with me, then go have some lunch, play around and try some other sports, then come back and wrap up with more soccer. I'm such a big supporter of kids trying multiple sports."

Lilly cites the move closer to New York as another reason she's counting on success at the Piers. The move should broaden the base of people the camp can reach. She's hoping some of those unable to make the trip to Wilton might consider coming to camp in Stamford.

"With what they get at the facility, this new base group of people we can reach and pass on a love of sports, I think it's just so great." she said. "There's so much to do [at the Piers], not just with soccer but with so many other sports. We can try to reach a much wider audience."

Lilly suggests those interested in attending her camp in Wilton visit her website to sign up for classes, or visit the Chelsea Piers website for her Stamford camp. The start date for her camp at the Piers is August 6, 2012.
