At Bobby V's, An All-Star Museum

One week from today, nearby New York will host the Major League Baseball All-Star game.

Stamford's connection? It's sort of obvious.

Twelve years ago Bobby Valentine managed the National League team at the 2001 event at Safeco Field in Seattle after his upstart Mets reached the World Series in 2000.

Valentine clearly didn't leave the game empty handed. Memorabilia from that night are at his Main Street restaurant. Included is the 2001 All-Star Game sign from Safeco Field and Valentine's NL jersey.

But enough about the last manager to lead the Mets to the Fall Classic. We checked in with restaurant manager Dan Corsello and asked him what his favorite items were at the memorabilia-rich restaurant.

Among his selections were an autographed Reggie Jackson jersey and a photo of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Joe Torre, who led the Yankees to four World Series titles, including one against Valentine's Mets.

By the way, Corsello is a Yankees fan.

"I've been here nine years and I still find new stuff I hadn't noticed before," he said. "It's like a mini Cooperstown."
