Stamford's Fairway Market to Host Shopping Night for Firefighter Face-Off Winners

Following their win at the annual Fairway Firefighters Food Face-Off, the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol, Inc., will team up with Fairway Market in Stamford to host a shopping night to benefit those with developmental disabilities next week.

Coming to Fairway Market at 699 Canal Street in Stamford on Nov. 20, 2013, 25-percent of purchases made between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.

"Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol has always been a community partner in Greenwich," said Sgt. Sebastian Dostmann in a release this week. "The Patrol has made a commitment to the community at large and it is because of partnerships like this with Fairway Market that the Patrol is able to complete its mission of giving back to others."

Members of the Patrol will be at the store during the event to greet shoppers and register them to participate.

The event follows the Patrol's first place finish in the June Fairway Firefighters Food Face-Off. it is the second year the Patrol has won the award. The group selected Abilis as the recipient of their proceeds raised "due to their strong commitment to serve those in need in the Town of Greenwich, a commitment which the Patrol proudly shares."

"Community partnerships are a fundamental aspect of the Patrol's existence," said Chief Brian Kelly. "We are fortunate to be so involved with the community and to be able to help others in our town."

Abilis executives said the were ecstatic about the selection.

"Abilis is honored to have been selected as a recipient of this generous donation from Fairway Market and the Cos Cob Fire Police Patrol," said Lolli Ross, Executive Director of Abilis. "The funds received will help Abilis create lives of joy, respect and meaning for the most vulnerable members of society."

The annual Firefighter Face-Off is a barbeque "throwdown" in which firehouses compete by cooking up ribs, burgers and a surprise dish from ingredients provided by Fairway Market. A panel of food experts judge the entries and chooses a winner, who receives a $500 gift card, an engraved trophy and the ability to host a Shopping Night for their selected charity.
