West Point Team Visits Cloonan School for Robotics Workshop, Mentoring

The West Point team will conduct a full day robotics workshop.

Fifty sixth and seventh graders at Cloonan Middle School will have a unique opportunity to explore college and career paths in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields by engaging in a day of leadership, mentoring, and hands–on STEM activities led by 10 cadets and Dr. Kendall Williams, math professor from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

The participating students are part of the College For Every Student (CFES) STEM program that targets first-generation students in grades 6 to 12 to help them prepare for, gain access to, and succeed in college, with a strategic focus on increasing their interest, knowledge, and skill in STEM.

“The West Point team will conduct a full day robotics workshop with our CFES STEM Scholars,” said Cloonan’s Assistant Principal Laureen Mody.  “Dr. Williams and his team of cadets will work with scholars to help them build robots from scratch!”
