Update: SPS Superintendent Search

Hamilton received certification from the state of Connecticut to continue her role as acting superintendent until an interim is found following a discussion from the Board of Education later this month.

Numerous parents and community members told the Stamford Board of Education last Tuesday to keep the community updated on the search for an interim and permanent superintendent for Stamford Public Schools. On Tuesday evening, the board affirmed that item will be placed on an agenda for an upcoming meeting as the board narrows down its choices for an interim superintendent.

Acting Superintendent Winifred Hamilton received 093 certification from the state of Connecticut, which means she can continue her role as acting superintendent exceeding her limit of 90 days, which was effective July 1.

“I received the list from CABE [Connecticut Association of Boards of Education] of potential interim superintendents,” said Board President Polly Rauh Tuesday evening. “The list was one and a half pages and we have narrowed it down to three people.”

CABE generated a list of retired superintendents that could potentially serve as interims for districts. Rober Rader, executive director of CABE, recommended the board find an interim superintendent with experience in a small urban school district, said Rauh.
