Report: 7th Claim of Sexual Abuse Against Retired Stamford Gym Teacher

The Connecticut Post reports that two civil lawsuits have been filed against the city's public schools for failing to prevent the alleged abuse.

Seven men have come forward with claims that they were abused as children by their Stamford Public School gym teacher, Robert Martinez.

The Connecticut Post reports that a second civil lawsuit was filed Thursday in Bridgeport Superior Court against Martinez and Stamford Public Schools for its failure to prevent the alleged abuse.

The men, 7 in total, claim they were abused by Martinez in the 1970s, when they were between 8 and 10 years old, according to The Post. No criminal charges were ever filed against Martinez.

An article The Post published in December 2013, when the first lawsuit was filed, reports that Martinez was a gym teacher at Rogers School when the alleged abuse took place. He retired in 2005.
