I attended [last week's] meeting for the water issues plaguing North Stamford. My daughter attends . My involvement has been gradual as I research and learn more and more concerning the history of the area and particularly the school and its surroundings.

I am deeply concerned for the students and faculty as the city endeavors to try to pinpoint the "source" as noted in [last week's] meeting. In listening to all the talk about water contamination and seepage, amongst the residents and the lack of forthcoming information on the results, I couldn't help but wonder where that leaves the school that is sitting right in the middle of all of this contamination.

Ann Fountain of the stated that "we are only scratching the surface," indicating a much broader danger. David Martin made a formidable comment as well in stating that as the city learns more they should be responsible for getting the word out to the public in a more timely and direct fashion.

I am standing by and staying on top of the testing, project management and information that is up ahead for the near future. This is obviously a widespread issue in need of more attention and outreach. Let's hope the word gets out and the community awakens to the fact that this is not all about the selling of property, but moreso the value of lives that this area impacts.
