Greenwashing: How to know it when you see it.

How can consumers know whether products and services are really “green?” And what does “green” mean? To learn more, the public is invited to hear a presentation by Kevin Tuerff, principal and co-founder of Austin-based Tuerff-Davis EnviroMedia Inc., which focuses on behavior change campaigns for health and the environment.

There is no charge, however lunch is served and reservations are preferred. To register, call 203-406-3336 or email soundbusiness@soundwaters.org.

Sikorsky Aircraft is co-sponsoring the event.

Mr. Tuerff will discuss how to spot greenwashing and why it exists. He will share an online tool that EnviroMedia helped to create with the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication to engage consumers in evaluating companies' claims about sustainable and environmentally responsible practices. And he also will discuss how businesses can promote their (true) sustainable practices.
