The Challenge Now For Conservatives: Don’t Be Like Our Persecutors

I’ll say it again.  “If you want to know the true worth of a person, examine them not after they have ‘lost’, but after they have ‘won’.

The ‘Obama years’, for non-Progressive Liberals, have been rift with cruel taunts of, ‘We’re in charge, now!’, ‘You lost; we won’ and ‘Elections have consequences’ verbiage worthy of the lowest school yard bully.

Even here on Patch, we witness this behavior, as endemic as it is all over our country.

Years ago, one of my kids said, “Ma, you just called yourself a tea-‘bagger’.”  Do you even ‘know’ what that is?  (I’d been reading ‘bagger’ so much, it stuck in my mind!) Well, I ‘didn’t’ know what ‘bagger’ meant.  So I guess the joke was on ‘me’ – once again and ‘oh wasn’t it funny’?

Not surprisingly, the very people I had once advocated for sought and, no doubt ‘enjoyed’ what they thought would ‘humiliate’ me. Only, it didn’t.  All it did was prove to me just how juvenile and puerile these people can be when their shallow ‘minds’ are in full-gear and they’re in ‘attack mode’.

Further castigation awaited me at the hands of politicos during my brief ‘foray’ into campaign politics, an eventuality which serves me well to this day.  The lesson for progressive liberals here:  Don’t make it up if you can’t substantiate it to a ‘Higher Power’.

But nature loves ‘a balance’ and, lo and behold, suddenly we conservatives are apparently being vindicated!  ‘We’ find ourselves on ‘the winning side’.

Especially at times like this do I thank my Lord for a ‘Hope’ that is not of this world and never was, and for His promise of a ‘better’ future.  I thank Him when ‘justice’ is served on this earthly plain, even as I await a more complete ‘Accounting’ some day for all of us.

Christ consoles me when I should be feeling ‘happiness’, but find myself more ‘depressed’ than ever about things.  I’d be lying if I said that recent ‘revelations’ made me ‘happy’ in any way, whatsoever.

Today’s news about  ‘investigations’ and ‘hearings’ on Benghazi and IRS abuses, etc. simply chill those of us who love this country to the bone.

We are both shocked and outraged to learn the degree to which the ‘trust’ we have place in our leaders has been turned against us, and how those in positions of power have literally ‘turned their backs’ on Americans in harms’ way all around the world.

Domestically, the very government ‘elected’ to serve us, has, we are learning, ‘targeted’ us, a mockery being made of the Constitution, The Bill of Rights and of our very way of life.

Worse, this is all being done with the ‘blessing’ of Democratic progressive liberals everywhere.

“For shame!”, we say, and you’d better believe that we mean it.

Still, I’d like to think there’s some hope that this ‘change of dynamics’ will serve as some sort of panacea, for a while, at least, calming down the ‘great, riled conservative Tea Party’ beast.

For many, myself included, the many years of marginalization, prejudice, bigotry and excoriation against us causes us to ‘seek relief’ from the pressure we have been under. For a moment, at least, maybe we can pretend to believe that ‘things will be alright’.

Inwardly, we know it won’t last for long and only a fool is deluded enough to believe that after so many years of the ‘change we couldn’t believe in’, that things will suddenly be ‘made right’.  That simply won’t happen.

And only a bigger fool will believe that any of these recent ‘disclosures’ will serve to substantially lessen the communication gap between the divergent opposites attacking each other in our country today. No.

The only reason our ‘former oppressors’ are expressing any apparent ‘outrage’ is because they suddenly find that ‘they’ have a dog or two in the ‘fight’.

Personally, I am leery of ‘such as these’, even as they ‘pretend’ to be our new found ‘allies’. As ‘Mom’ used to say, “You fall down out of that tree, don’t come running to ‘me’ for sympathy!” and that is how I choose to treat members of the progressive lib press now complaining about ‘marginalization and excoriation’, themselves.

Oh, yes, some Dems are ‘speaking nicely’ on behalf of ‘tea-baggers’ because their rears are in the same sling as ours.  But, ‘not so fast’, I say.

It will take a lot more than ‘words’ and ‘faux commiseration’ to make an old hand like myself believe you for one second.

Don’t think the majority of us ‘conservative hillbillies’ don’t see through you.  And don’t expect to take advantage of our ‘kindness’ and ‘Christian forgiveness’, as you usually do, because, this ‘go round’, it isn’t going to work that way. The world doesn’t function for you as it has, anymore.

Everything ‘up’ is now ‘down’ and everything ‘onward’ is now ‘inward’ for you.

And things have changed for Republicans, too, under the Obama Administration.  We are learning that that those who were once oppressed and held down will not necessarily be any better or any ‘fairer’ than their former ‘enslavers’ were.

Oh, it’s a cruel world!

Indeed, right now, some conservatives are even ‘rubbing it in’, even here on Patch.  Apparently, this makes some ‘feel better’, and make no mistake, I totally understand this.

In fact, I can make an excellent argument that ‘we are owed our due’ and that those of us who have suffered at the hands of nasty Progressive Liberals have every right to ‘act out’ in any (legal) way(s) we wish to hereon in.

That being said, I am learning that I just can’t do that, myself,

It’s not because I am oh-so-righteous or noble, no.  It is simply that ‘happy’ and ‘delicious’ is not what I feel at all and ‘gloating’ is not my ‘cup of tea’.  ‘Paying back progressive liberals in kind’ would only serve to make me feel as ‘scummy’ as they have been to my fellows and me, over the years.

Rubbing the Democrats’ faces ‘in it’ won’t make me feel one bit better and I simply don’t want to be and feel as low and duplicitous as they have been to us.

Of course, I’m just an Independent with a lone voice, so you can take what I say here with a ‘grain of salt’, if what I’ve said here ‘brings you low'.

But just remember to ‘take care’ with your ‘tree-climbing’. That ‘Tree of Liberty’, like the ‘Tree of Knowledge’ – that’s a ‘long way down’ when you reach the top and misstep.
