While our community is still recovering from Hurricane Sandy, I'd like to remind you all that the final deadline to apply for FEMA disaster assistance is Monday, December 31, 2012.
If your home or business has any damage from the storm, assistance with temporary housing, home repair or replacement, permanent and semi-permanent housing construction, and other needs such as medical, dental, funeral, and transportation expenses are available through FEMA.

In order to receive assistance, you must apply directly to FEMA by phone, via mobile device, or online:
- By phone: Call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
- For those with speech or hearing disabilities, the number is 1-800-462-7585. These lines are open every day from 7am to 10pm.
- From your mobile device, visit m.fema.gov
- Online: Apply online here .
*Please make sure you still apply directly to FEMA to receive assistance even if you have already reported your damages to 2-1-1.

The deadline for applying for Individual Assistance is December 31, 2012. If you would like to learn more about the Individual Assistance program, please click here .
Also, if you own a small business, you are also eligible for assistance under the Small Business Administration (SBA). You can apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs), which are available for small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private, non-profit organizations. EIDLs can assist you if you are having difficulty with any financial obligations that resulted because of the storm. The deadline for applying for an EIDL is July 31, 2013.
