Stamford: Want to Volunteer? We've Got This!

You always hear us talk about the cool things our friends are up to but today we wanted to take a brief moment to fill you in on some of the neat things you can do withVolunteerSquare.com. Our site has a number of FREE features that will make giving back to your community fun and easy.

1) E-ALERTS

Know what you like and what you’re good at? Great. Sign up as a volunteer and tell us so we can send you customized, free e-alerts when a nonprofit in our region of Connecticut posts a volunteer need that matches your profile.

2) SEE SOMETHING YOU LIKE?

If you see a volunteer opportunity you’re interested in registered users can apply right away through VolunteerSquare.com. An email will get sent to the nonprofit agency right away letting them know you’re interested. You can even upload a photo, a resume or a personal note, too. Once the nonprofit receives your application, it’s up to you two to take the next step.

3) SOCIAL NETWORKING

Who doesn’t love to socialize? Volunteering is an inherently social and visual activity so we built a platform into our site calledCommunity. Our Community section allows registered users to upload and share unique content in the form of videos, photos, comments and events relative to the volunteer experience. Similar to other social networks, users can comment and respond to posts, “like” them, send private messages and add other users as friends. Be sure to check us out on Facebook and Twitter too!

4) WHAT’S HAPPENING?

It seems like there are always a ton of events happening all the time here in Fairfield County. How can you keep track? Use ourCalendar to post your nonprofit’s event or check out what’s happening in your community. You can export these events to your iCal, RSVP, get maps and more!

5) BLOGGING

As you may know, we LOVE to blog! We also love it when our friends blog with us. If you’re working on a cool volunteer project or have a volunteer story you want to share, let us know. We may feature you as a guest blogger!

6) PROJECT MANAGEMENT

In our Community section, registered users have the opportunity to create Groups. Registered users can create or be invited to join Groups that focus on one particular volunteer project or event. Group members can send messages to one another, upload unique content like photos and videos, and create events. When a new activity is posted in the group, all members receive an email alert. This real-time email messaging allows Group organizers to communicate efficiently with all involved with a project.

7) WE LOVE TO SHARE!

It was important to us to build a platform that could connect easily with other social networking sites. Therefore almost all content created on VolunteerSquare.com is shareable with established sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube etc. with the push of a button. Just look for that Share button!

8) PRIVACY

Privacy is very, very important to us. In accordance with the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we require those individuals aged 13 and under to get a parent’s digital signature at the point of registration. We also require as little information as possible at individual registration. We do not ask for a phone number or home address.

In addition, our internal privacy settings are robust. Once registered, an individual has complete control over what information they choose to share publicly.

Remember to stop by VolunteerSquare.com and sign up for our free e-alerts so we can let you know when a volunteer need matches your own skills and interests. Or, if you're a registered 501 c 3 nonprofit and you want volunteers, sign up for free and get the word out!

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
