Mayor Michael Pavia and other government officials and community leaders met Thursday evening to rededicate the Jackie Robinson park on Stamford's West Side.
The park underwent a 6-month cosmetic facelift and sports a new walking path, new benches, new picnic tables and benches and new landscaping and shrubbery.
"Jackie Robinson chose Stamford as his home," Pavia said. "He was proud of Stamford. I think he would be a little bit prouder with what we're doing here today."
The budget for the project was approximately $160,000, roughly 45-percent of which came from Royal Bank of Scotland and another $50,000 from Stamford's capital funds.
