Stamford RTC Endorses Chris Meek For Congress

Meek, who hails from Stamford, is seeking the Party nomination as he heads to the Republican state convention on May 18 at the Hartford Convention Center.

The Republican Town Committee recently voted to endorse Chris Meek for Connecticut’s Fourth Congressional District.

“The voters of Stamford could make no better choice than Chris Meek who has been a part of the fabric of our city for many years," said Dennis Mahoney, Chairman of the Stamford RTC, in a press release. "No candidate will get more votes out of the City of Stamford than Chris Meek."

Meek, who hails from Stamford, is seeking the Party nomination as he heads to the Republican state convention on May 18 at the Hartford Convention Center.

Meanwhile Republican candidate Steve Obsitnik is also vying to become the Party's choice to run against Rep. Jim Himes, a Democrat who has held the House seat for the past two terms.

at defeating Himes — but Mahoney said Meek "is the only candidate with a proven track record here in the 4th Congressional District. He has worked tirelessly in and for our communities and his background appeals to all voters."

“I honored that I have the respect and support of my hometown community,” Meek said in reaction to the endorsement. “The Stamford RTC recognizes that nominating the most electable person is the only way we win back this seat.”

Already supporting Meek are Mayor Michael Pavia of Stamford, , former Lieutenant Governor Mike Fedele, State Representative Terrie Wood (R-141), State Representative Livvy Floren (R-149), State Representative Mike Molgano (R-146), Assistant Republican Leader in the Connecticut House of Representatives DebraLee Hovey (R-112), Greenwich Selectman David N. Theis, State Central Member Eva Maldonado, Former Stamford RTC Chairman Jerry Pia, Trumbull RTC Chairman Jack Testani, Fairfield RTC Chairman Jamie Millington, and the Stamford Police Union.
